Lord Mayor praises fantastic facility
Sensor City welcomed The Right Worshipful, The Lord Mayor of Liverpool, CLLR Malcolm Kennedy through its doors this week, as part of an official visit to the global innovation centre.
The new, purpose-built hub offers start-ups and existing companies the technical expertise, business support and international platform needed to collaborate, fund and promote sensor solutions and IoT to a global market.
As part of the visit CLLR Kennedy was given a tour around the state of the art, on-site laboratories and workshops, which are some of the most sophisticated for sensor and IoT technology in the UK.
CLLR Kennedy said: “Sensor City is a fantastic facility for companies interested in Internet of Things (IoT).
“The building itself has great views across the Knowledge Quarter and it’s impressive to see the impact that Sensor City is having on the Liverpool City Region economy.”
Positioned at the intersection of industry and academia, Sensor City facilitates connectivity and fosters progress, helping partners to capitalise on the growing sensor revolution, and develop concepts into prototypes with speed and accuracy.
One of the SMEs located within Sensor City is Chanua Health, who run Neuro Champions – an educational programme which provides young people with the knowledge and skills they need in order to become effective young leaders in mental health.
During his visit to Sensor City, CLLR Kennedy took time out of his busy schedule to speak with some of the children participating in Neuro Champions and was shown what they’ve most recently been working on.
CLLR Kennedy said: “It was a real pleasure meeting the youngsters and seeing their enthusiasm for the programme.
“I look forward to seeing what further work and collaborations stem from within Sensor City in the future.”
