Established 5 years ago by Jennifer and Patrick Fenner, DefProc Engineering is a small business working with both individuals and businesses to support them with their products, services, development of ideas and manufacturing physical items for prototypes and small runs.
Drawing on their combined expertise in design and engineering, they offer professional support for early-stage product development and prototyping, always looking to create something that currently doesn’t exist.
Jennifer Fenner, Managing Director of DefProc Engineering said: “We have recently relocated to Sensor City to access its state of the art equipment, and to be in the heart of the activity following the Liverpool 5G Consortium bid win, which we are part of.”
DefProc Engineering is also involved with the ‘Push to Talk’ project, combating social isolation by connecting users with likeminded people. This has involved working with a wide range of individuals, artists and designers.
Their connections within the sensor and Internet of Things (IoT) community extend to links with DoES Liverpool and Loughborough University’s Design and Engineering departments.
DefProc Engineering recently initiated the “Things Network”, providing public access to Long Range Wide Area Networks (LoRaWAN). Their mission is to build an open, global and crowdsourced Internet of Things data network, owned and operated by its users, enabling people to connect devises to the internet without using Bluetooth, Wi-Fi or phone data.
Going forwards, DefProc Engineering will be using their new base at Sensor City to open up opportunities to expand and take on new staff, run events and undertake the roll-out of 10 new gateways.
Patrick Fenner, Design Engineer at DefProc Engineering added: “Liverpool has a strong creative scene and we are looking forward to being involved in LightNight at Sensor City later this month.
“We will be exhibiting our interactive, sensor-based ‘Made Invaders’ game, which is a physical version of a computer game and is ideal for children to take part in, both as a single player or as a team.”
