Our collaborative nature stems from our wide range of stakeholders including two University partners, sector influencers, tenants and professional experts throughout the Liverpool City Region.

It is these established networks and connections which will add value to any business when fully exploited.

We are therefore pleased to be able to offer this support to businesses for free, in one accessible location, via a number of providers.

LCR 4.0

LCR 4.0 helps SMEs explore the potential of Industry 4.0 technologies by providing support ranging from research and development, knowledge transfer and the acceleration of ideas from concept through to commercialisation.

Sensor City is one of four delivery partners behind the project and specialises in sensors and the Internet of Things (IoT). 

We have a dedicated team of engineers, marketeers and project officers who are based at Sensor City and provide free impartial support to eligible businesses.

The LCR 4.0 project has so far assisted over 100 SMEs located within the Liverpool City region by providing knowledge, practical work, new product development, prototypes and testing.

Professional services

Most entrepreneurs need guidance in one form or another to get their initial business ideas off the ground. We understand that business owners tend to face a number of hurdles when it comes to setting up their business and through their initial growth period.

We have has therefore established links with several leading professional service providers, who offer their services for free at Sensor City on a monthly basis.

Financial: Adding Value Financial Consultancy

These sessions cover topics including access to funding, bookkeeping, payroll and pension issues, cash flow management, taxation and business planning.

Their sessions are based around issues such as legal protection for innovative technologies and patent applications and can help companies explore the best form of protection for their IP.

R&D Tax Credits: Grant Thornton

These informal meetings provide businesses with the opportunity to explore claiming R&D tax credits, or answer any queries regarding the operation of the relief for businesses that are already claiming.

Universities

As a collaborative venture between the University of Liverpool and Liverpool John Moores University, Sensor City is one of only four flagship University Enterprise Zones in the UK.

We are therefore able to tap into the extensive researcher and lecturer expertise and graduate talent from both institutions and have agreements with experts from both university partners to provide complementary mentoring and practical education.

Our engineering experts are specialists in sensors and have years of experience and research findings behind them.

On a monthly basis, these experts are on hand in Sensor City to answer a range of technical queries including sensors and sensor systems, real time monitoring and mapping, Microwave technologies, 2D/3D modelling and simulations, renewable energy technologies and Industrial IoT.
