We would like to highlight a funding opportunity for those of you involved in areas which might have an environmental impact.

The Low Carbon Eco-Innovatory (LCEI) is a partnership between LJMU and the University of Liverpool to assist SMEs in Liverpool City Region to investigate new products, processes and services.

Projects are tailored to your company’s needs and range from short-term paid internships, desk or lab based research and supervised student dissertation projects, to the most research intensive of these which is the 3-year PhD programme.

If you have an idea that would save energy, materials, water or have an environmental benefit that you’ve not got the time, information, expertise or facilities to fully investigate, LCEI can match your needs with academics, students or our own researchers in either LJMU or the University of Liverpool to help develop ideas or facilitate product development.

Between the two universities, they have helped over 400 companies in the past few years, helping to reduce CO2 emissions whilst saving costs, and creating scores of new or improved products.

LCEI is currently promoting a new tranche of PhD projects to start in the autumn.  These projects recruit a full-time graduate researcher specifically for your project who is supervised by world class expertise with access to university facilities.

These projects are part-funded and will therefore cost companies  just £6k per year for 3 years, i.e. a total of £18k for the 3-year duration to employ a graduate, have access to labs and libraries, and expert advice from academic supervisors.

The projects can be in any sector or subject, as long as you can demonstrate an environmental benefit.
