Our executive director, Alison Mitchell, has been invited by Innovate UK to participate in an Internet of Things (IoT) delegation to South Korea next month.

Selected as a thought leader and IoT expert, Alison will be joining 15 UK, IoT focused companies from 9th – 15th September for the visit.

The majority of companies participating are based in the South East of England, making Alison’sĀ involvement a valuable opportunity to promote the Liverpool City Region and the North of England, as well as the UK nationally.

Alison said: “I am looking forward to promoting Sensor City to an international audience and showcasing the world class Industry 4.0 expertise that we have locally.

“I am also very interested to see what projects the South Koreans are working on in the IoT space, and would would be keen to explore areas in which we can collaborate.”

The high profile delegation is being led by Enterprise Europe Network, who are currently working on the Global Business Accelerator Programme.

TheirĀ digital technology visits are aimed at businesses focused on developing IoT technologies and provide opportunities for global collaboration.

As part of the agenda, delegates will visit Gyeonggi Center for Creative Economy and Innovation (GCCEI). This innovation hub specialises in IoT and is backed by the government and SK (Korea Telecom).

This visit could open up opportunities for a reciprocal trip, seeing South Korean companies coming across to Liverpool to find out more about our business and university expertise.
