We are deeply saddened by the recent passing of our good friend and Aqua Running Founder, Terry Nelson.

Having been one of our resident members since we opened back in 2017, we have seen Terry’s passion and drive result in a highly successful business, with high profile customers around the world.

His innovative business developed out of personal experience and challenges, and his story is one which will continue to inspire us and future entrepreneurs for years to come.

A Liverpool FC youth team player for several years, until persistent injury forced him to give up the game as a teenager, Terry then endured two kidney transplants and many years on dialysis. Not one to give up, Terry overcame adversity to win numerous gold medals in the World and British Transplant gamesrelying on running under water to stay in shape.

From this activity and his personal challenges, Terry developed a business venture which teaches the techniques of aqua running whilst wearing a revolutionary suit he spent years developing. Harnessing the powerful benefits of water with unique, cutting edge sensor technology, Aqua Running provides no impact training, exercise and rehabilitation, in addition to the production of revolutionary Aqua Running suits.

In recent years, Aqua Running attracted attention from across the world, including coverage in the New York Times and winning multiple awards. His hydro buoyancy suits are regularly used by the world’s top sports clubs, as well as military veterans and children with physical disabilities.

Terry’s legacy will continue to make a real difference to people’s lives and we were honoured to have been part of his incredible journey.

Further online tributes for Terry, the entrepreneur without limits, can be found at Business Cloud and the Liverpool Echo.
